Production of mineral or chemical fertilizers (in terms of 100% nutrients) in May 2021 amounted to 2.3 million tons, which is at the level of May 2020, and 5.6% higher than in April 2021 (2.2 million tons). For five months of 2021, 11.2 million tons of fertilizers were produced, which is 8% more than in January-May 2020.

Production of potash fertilizers increased by 9.2% compared to May 2020, amounting to 1.0 million tons, phosphate fertilizers - decreased by 12.3% (0.4 million tons). Production of nitrogen fertilizers in May 2021 amounted to 1.0 million tons (a decrease of 2.9% compared to the same period last year).

Insecticide production increased by 53.8% compared to May 2020 and amounted to 4.8 thousand tons (an increase of 0.8% compared to April 2021). At the same time, in May 2021, the production of herbicides decreased compared to the same period last year - by 13.1% to 9.9 thousand tons (decrease compared to April 2021 (-) 23.1%), fungicides - by 19,0%. up to 3.7 thousand tons (decrease by April 2021 (-) 24.6%).

The production of plastics in primary forms in May amounted to 955.9 thousand tons, which is 16.5% more than in May 2020, and 4.9% more than in April 2021. For five months of 2021, the production of plastics in primary forms amounted to 4.6 million tons, which is 11.8% more than in January-May 2020.

Synthetic rubbers in primary forms were produced 129.6 thousand tons, which is 28.8% more than in May 2020 (a decrease in comparison with April 2021 - 12.4%). For five months of 2021, the production of synthetic rubbers in primary forms amounted to 724 thousand tons, which is 17.5% more than in January-May 2020.

The production of polymer-based paints and varnishes amounted to 118.1 thousand tons, which is 10.9% more than in May 2020, but 5.1% less than in April 2021. For five months of 2021, 516 thousand tons of polymer-based paints and varnishes. produced, which is 14.8% more than in January-May 2020.

The production of paints and varnishes and similar materials for paints and varnishes, printing, and artistic paints amounted to 47.5 thousand tons, which is 34.2% more than in May 2020 (compared to April 2021, a decrease of 1.5%).

In 2019, more than half of the chemical industry enterprises (52%) named investments in personnel development as a priority area of development. In 2020, investments in personnel were not included in the 5 priority development areas, dropping to ninth place in the list.
